What makes up your food? Food is something that you eat to sustain bodily function and give you the energy to do things. Food Chemistry is the study of what food is made up of. Chemicals!

Food is made up of chemicals that are commonly referred to as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water, and other molecules and chemicals present in minute amounts.

A good understanding of Food Chemistry is needed if you work in R & D and NPD as you have to investigate and analyze food related problems ,as well as having a molecular understanding how ingredients interact in your formulated food products…
If you understand food chemistry, you understand the functionality of each ingredient you use.Then you know how to do substitution to make it cost effective or for the better to satisfy your customers requirements.
