The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has implemented a sugar tax exemption on certain food and beverage items. As well as to support public health initiatives in the country.
The sugar tax was first introduced in the UAE in 2017, with a 50% tax on carbonated drinks and a 100% tax on energy drinks.
